日本国内では日教組教育の影響で、
「戦前の日本は民主主義がなかった」
　とか、嘘八百を信じている人が少なくないわけです。実際には、戦前は成人男子の全てが選挙権を持ち、政党政治が成立しており、政権交代も頻繁に起こっていました。（女性は参政権がありませんでしたが、当時はフランスやイタリアも同じだったため、別に日本の民主主義が遅れていたわけではありません）


　何と言うか、「戦前は民主主義はなかった論」は、
「日本国民は悪くないんだよ。全部、軍部が悪いんだよ」
　といった感じで、戦前の政治の責任を国民に負わせない代わりに、「軍部主導で日本は悪いことしたんだよ」という自虐史観を広めようとしているプロパガンダに過ぎないわけです。


　民主主義とは、最終的には「国民」が責任を負わねばならず、誰のせいにもできず、だからこそ素晴らしいと思うわけですが、それを否定しようとしている一部の人たちに我慢できません。戦前の政治の責任も、あるいは現在の日本の混迷も、全ては有権者である日本国民が負わねばならないと思うわけです。
